I have a teenager! Jaidyn turned THIRTEEN on September 3rd. It is an exciting time for her as she grows and becomes a young woman. I knew we had to commemorate this big milestone with a photoshoot just for her. She deserves some special photos to celebrate her turn from tween to teen! She's still a little girl at heart and will always be our baby.
Thirteen years ago, she made me a mom, and my life has been amazing ever since. I remember going into labor with her...not knowing I was in labor...and non-chalantly going to the hospital straight from my 39 week appointment where we discovered I was ready to deliver. Four short hours later, she was here. In the following days we were faced with Hurricane Isabel (we lived in Richmond, VA at the time) which knocked out power for what felt like a month. With a brand new baby at home and as a new mom not having a clue what I was doing; we struggled every step of the way until we found our groove and the power came back on. Her entry to the world and the days following was a message from above about how dramatic, demanding, and full of life she would be...a force to be reconned with! This girl will do big things in this life...I guarantee it!
Every single day she teaches me more and more about being a mom. Just when I think I have things figured out, she changes, she grows, she challenges me more. She was a gift from God just when I needed direction in life. I am so very thankful for her and excited about what the future holds for this amazing young woman.
When selecting a photographer for this special occasion I had many great experiences to chose from with other local photographers. Natasha with NPS Photography was my choice for this shoot for many reasons. Her styling and comfort level with the girls was exactly what I was looking for. As a mom of 3 boys herself and someone I knew through my husband's coaching, she knew exactly what I had in mind and delivered. I think the photos turned out amazing and I am so thankful that we tied in this special occassion with a mother/daughter shoot with both of my girls. These girls have been so close through the years, we needed to celebrate their bond as well. You would never know looking at these that we had a nice argument while all of us were rushing to get ready and to the location on time.
We shot these at the Pinehurst Arboretum, near Rassie Wicker Park. The scenery was beautiful for this early fall shoot. I wanted us to wear something special for these photos; something that complimented our feminimity but was modest and special. Matilda Jane is a perfect fit for that styling. Cheryl Ross is a friend of mine and local Trunk Keeper for Matilda Jane, I always make sure to shop her sample sales and new releases each season. Matilda Jane is my most favorite mother/daughter line of clothing. Both girls are HUGE fans of their dresses and Ayla owns more than my husband would probably ever approve of.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention our fabulous makeup. I recently began distributing SeneGence (in June) focusing primarily on LipSense and ShadowSense. This makeup is AMAZING you guys! You'll have to check it out for yourself. (Shameless Group Page Plug) My girls absolutely love getting to wear LipSense and all of the colors we get to chose from.
I have a headshot! I never planned to ever have a professional headshot but Natasha just did it naturally as part of our day.
It's nice to have now for both professional and personal use. Thanks Natasha!
We had worked with Natasha before when she took photos of Paxtyn as a newborn. She was fantastic and really has an amazing talent and touch for the newborn speciality. You can take a look at her gallery to see all of her beautiful naturalistic photos. Below are a couple from our shoot with Paxtyn. I can't believe he's almost 2! Time to book another photoshoot!
We had a fantastic experience with Natasha with NPS Photography several times. Her talent is obvious; she stays up to date and educated on all of the new technology and stylings. Her prices are as you would expect from a highly talented professional photographer (you get what you pay for, guys, these memories are priceless). For a limited time, mention this blog and you will get $25 off when you book a session by September 25th with NPS. Session can be booked for anytime between now and March 2017. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org to book your date!
Here are some fun outtakes from our photoshoot with Natasha.
The girls love her and always have a good time.
I'm a such sucker for pretty packaging and Natasha does a fantastic job with
presentation. When you receive your order she always has it nicely
packaged like the gift it is. I opted for a USB drive of my proofs as I am
super indecisive with prints. I need more time than most people to think
about which prints/sizes and locations I'll be placing the artwork. I love
that she works with you and I was also pleasantly surprised she
still had some photos from Paxtyn's newborn shoot from over a year ago,
not everyone keeps those kinds of files.
Thank you Natasha for such a wonderful day. Thank you Cheryl for the beautiful clothes, we are so lucky to have you in our area!

"It's all about keeping a little girl...a little girl. Keeping her youthful. Keeping her spinning and twirling and carefree. And most importantly, bringing her happiness." – Denise DeMarchis, designer and founder.
Matilda Jane Clothing is a company with a charitable heart. Our purpose is to bring happiness into the lives of our customers and to spread the love to others as far as we can reach. The founders of MJC were able to open an orphanage and school in Kitale, Kenya through establishment of the Mighty Acorn Foundation. MJC has also developed a relationship with Habitat for Humanity and helped build many homes in Indiana, near our headquarters. Although Denise DeMarchis, the founder of the company passed away in 2015, MJC has ensured that her heart, vision and love for giving would continue. Starting in 2015, MJC began a partnership with Changing the Face of Beauty, a nonprofit corporation that is committed to equal representation of people with disabilities in advertising and media worldwide. Although 18% of people in the United States are disabled, they are not seen in media or advertisement, and MJC is helping to shift that paradigm.
“Come’on who doesn’t love a compliment. It makes your day, all day. That is what I want MJC to do, make the girl smile from ear to ear. I want her to love what she is wearing and be proud of how she looks. I want MJC to showcase the sweetness of the child.” – Denise DeMarchis, designer and founder.
