I’ve had many requests for a listing of places to dine out with kids. This listing will be updated continuously as information is provided. Please note the date above as a reference point on how accurate this may or may not be. It always helps to call in advance to be sure the promotion is still ongoing. I have provided a link to their website or Facebook if available and phone # for ease of use.

Below is a list of restaurants we find to be kid-friendly and welcoming to children. We try to support local as much as we can so I’ve listed those first along with links to their Facebook or websites.
Buffalo Wild Wings: while this restaurant is not our favorite, the kids beg to go here. It’s probably because of the handheld games they divvy out to them when they come in. And as much as I don’t think their food is spectacular, the kids always eat well and we have a nice peaceful (as much as you can in a bar) meal. Service has been hit and miss here.
Chapman Food and Spirits: owner is very child friendly and will make sure you’re family is treated with respect by both his staff and other patrons. Coloring sheets & crayons for passing time. Food is fresh but fast.
Chick-Fil-A: This is our go-to for a quick delicious meal out with little stress. Table delivery and amazing service can’t be beat. The playground is a great incentive to get your child to finish their meal. Did you know you can exchange the book for an ice cream? Another built-in bribe for those of us not afraid to bribe and beg our kids to behave Also check out their mobile ordering options. Download their app, order before you get there or even in the parking lot & you won’t have to wrestle the kids waiting in line.
Chili’s Bar & Grill: The food selection is a crowd pleaser, the experience is similar to BWW above. Relaxing atmosphere for groups with kids.
Cracker Barrel: Coloring pages, table games, checkers & plenty to look at in the Old Country Store…Cracker Barrel is a crowd pleaser with lots of options to satisfy the picky eater in your family.
Hickory Tavern: It’s loud…and the food is good. Kids meals come with Oreos. Overall great place to go with kids because they will likely not disturb neighboring tables since it’s just so loud in there anyway. But it is a bar…so keep that in mind.
The Ice Cream Parlor: a local favorite in downtown Southern Pines. The ICP has all of the appeal of a small town shop with delicious fresh food and homemade ice cream choices. The kids love it here…period. There’s not much more I need to say about it…just go check it out.
Panera Bread: A crowd pleaser regardless of age. There’s plenty to choose from and now with mobile ordering you can have your meal ready before you arrive and then select a table OR you can order directly from your table so you don’t have to wait in line. My kids love Panera and so do I.
Pik ‘N Pig: with indoor and outdoor seating this family style and owned barbecue joint is perfect for a relaxing and delicious meal. We love this place for SO many reasons! Watch airplanes take off and land from all over the region. We sit outside so the kids can run around in the fields and play corn hole. The menu is very child friendly and our kids love the hush puppies as an appetizer. They have coloring books and crayons available to pass the time.
Also lets not forget all of the amazing pizza places we have here locally that are super kid friendly. Here is the blog post all about local PIZZA.
