NC Museum of Natural Science

April 2, 2016

After our trip to Defy Gravity and filling our bellies with some delicious pizza, we headed to wrap up our day trip at the NC Museum of Natural Science

The NC Museum of Natural Science is located at 11 W Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601

I liked that we could tie in some education during our day trip to Raleigh.

The globe was really cool to experience inside and out!

We were able to park right in front of the museum.  We arrived around 3:30 which gave us a little over an hour to explore before the 5pm close time.  I metered the car for $1.25 to get us past the 5pm deadline.  Popped the 15 month old in the stroller & off we went!  We explored each floor and the kids really enjoyed seeing all the cool stuff and playing with everything.  The school-aged kids really got the most out of this as they could read each display and interact with them most.  I stuck with the little ones and followed their lead.

This room was really cool, sorry I did not write down the name of it, but I believe it was on the 3rd floor.  The kids really enjoyed moving the satellite around the earth and viewing it from different angles while watching the moon change position.

Best of all, admission is free (although donation is suggested)  I had each child put cash in the donation box, it was a nice teachable moment to explain why we donate for education and to talk about how our money helps change and can do awesome things. The boys (3 & 15 months) really loved the fish and bug exhibits.  An hour later they were tired and ready to head home.

I especially love when we can combine fun with education.  The kids really enjoyed the science museum.

It was a great day and a nice road trip to Raleigh for something for everyone!
