Play Escape

April 12, 2016

There are small windows in my weekdays where I need to entertain the boys while the girls are either at school, dance or soccer.  When I’m not working on a project they are typically with me after 11:30am.  They are quite the troopers being shuttled here and there to all of our activities.  When it rains I have to try a little harder to occupy them.

On Tuesdays Mr. One goes to a Mothers Morning Out while Mr. Three is at preschool; both until 11:30am.  I love Tuesdays because I can guarantee a good 2 hours of time devoted to work; typically I schedule meetings on these days.  Once I get the boys back, it’s lunch and entertaining them until big kid pickup at 2:30/3.  Most of the time we will go home and play outside or go to the park.  It’s raining today in the Pines, so we had to figure out a plan B to burn their energy and get them nice and tired for nap time.

We met friends for lunch at Chick-fila, which is always a guaranteed good time for the kids.  They love to play on the indoor playground.  It fills up fast on rainy days like today and only holds their attention for a half hour or so.

Play Escape is a new indoor play center that opened last fall.  It was MUCH anticipated and has filled such a need for our community.  We have spent many rainy fall days there and it used to be my go-to in between dance & soccer.  Our schedule is a bit different this spring so we aren’t there as much.  When we do get to go the kids play hard and sleep hard afterward.  WIN-WIN!  Owned by Aslynn Rust, you will find that she has thought of everything a parent needs and wants in an indoor play center and given it to us!

Some things you need to know about Play Escape:

Suitable for kids 0-10…although crawling age is going to be much easier and the older kids over 10 really have to watch and be careful as they play with the younger children.

  • There is a toddler/babies area with a smaller bounce house, slide, ball pit, train table and more.  There are a couple of areas to sit in this section but you’ll want to stay close by your little one since the big kids sometimes venture over into the area.

  • In the main area of the building you’ll find climbing equipment, putting green, slides, inflatable slide, lego table, train table & a larger bounce house.

Food.  Play Escape has an awesome cafe/bar with lots of options for snacks, light lunch, coffee and more.  They ask you to refrain from bringing in outside food/beverages unless there is a special need for your child.  There is a water fountain  available with cups for your thirsty kiddos to rehydrate as they run around.  You’ll find plenty of seating and high chairs as well.

Extras.  They offer so many extras other than being just an indoor play space.

Parties.  Birthday parties are super fun at PE.  She has set her prices very reasonably and offers many add ons including theming, character guest appearances, cupcakes, pizza, and more.  You can also inquire about renting the entire facility for a private party.  I've heard amazing things about her birthday partes!

Classes.  She is constantly adding classes for your enjoyment.  Yoga(both child and adult; adult includes childcare), zumba, crafting, and more.  Check her schedule on the website and pre-register.  Price is separate from admission price but INCLUDE all day admission for that day.  Quite a deal!

Summer Camp.  She’s offering summer camp this summer!  I’m excited to try this out with one or more of my kiddos if we can make our schedule work.  The price is fantastic and perfect for preschoolers that are out for the summer.

Drop-in Daycare.  I was super excited to hear about this new option.  This is going to be a go-to for me this summer with my older kids I am sure!  You do need to pre-register for drop-in daycare and price is $8/hour and $4/hour for siblings.  Max is 5 kids in the program each day.  I imagine it will be very popular this summer.  She also offers a Parents Night Out occasionally, I hope to try this out soon.

Ms. Nine and I enjoyed a Mommy & Me Painting class at Play Escape a few weeks ago, I’ll have to blog about that experience soon.  Check out Wine & Design Pinehurst for more info on this class which is held in the Play Escape location currently.

Price.  Admission cost varies based upon age.  (Kids under 6 months & 11 and up/adults are Free) I had Mr. One, Mr. Three and our 4 year old friend with us today and it was around $16 to enjoy unlimited play time.  You can see specifics about cost HERE.  We had a membership when she first opened and definitely got our money’s worth, so look into that if you think you’ll be there more than a couple times a week.  They also offer a military discount and multiple child discount.

So next time you find yourself looking for something to do on a rainy day, be sure to check out Play Escape!  It’s a must-do regardless of the weather, make it a part of your weekly schedule of fun!
