Run or Dye Tryin' 5K Color Run

April 30, 2016

On Saturday April 30, 2016 our family participated in the AC Sandhills 5K Color Run.  It was SO much fun!

Saturday afternoon we headed out to West Pinehurst Community Park to help get the race under way and help with any last-minute details.  The race organizers were amazing so little was needed to be done.  Race I am referring to here is the ACS Run or Dye Trying Color Run 5K; plans are currently under way for next year.  ACS also is in the beginning stages of planning another race this coming fall.  You can subscribe to their events on their Facebook page HERE.

While we waited for the race to start and participants to arrive the kids had a blast playing in the bubbles.  The bubble races were hilarious.  Kona Ice came as well as Anytime Fitness of Southern Pines.  When the race began Mr. Three really wanted to run and get covered in color!  So I let him run the first leg which was about half a mile around a large field.  He got sprayed quite a bit and loved it.  I dropped him with daddy when the trail turned into the woods.

What an awesome route it was.  There were hills and trees to duck and jump over, a muddy bridge to cross and a beautiful lake to go around.  I’ve ran several races and this was definitely one of my favorites by far.

Miss. Nine and Miss. Twelve both ran the race as well.  I was so proud of them for doing it!  Mr. Three ran the 100 yard dash which started an hour after the race.  He won and was thrilled with his 1st place medal!

We headed to Hickory Tavern after all the race was cleaned up and enjoyed some time reflecting on the day.  We all had an awesome time and can't wait for the next event like this one!
